In the nightcap, as they try to sweep, the visitors send portsiders Mickey Lolich to the hill fresh off a 13 strikeout shutout performance. The A’s counter with sophomore Chuck Dobson who is making his 1967 debut. Top 1, the Tigers rally with 2 out. Gates Brien singled and Kaline walked setting the table. Jim Northrup singled for a run as did Norm Cash putting the Bengals up 2-0. The A’s threatened in the 2nd when Ed Charles singled but got thrown out trying to score on a Joe Nossek single. Little did the fans know that would be the best chance they would have in the game. Top 9, the Tigers put the icing on the cake adding a couple on a Teo out Cash triple and a Jim Price single and a Ray Oyler double. Lolich completed the game matching his first outing with a another 13 punch out whitewash.
