The Orioles held a precarious 1-0 lead until the bottom of the 5th when the frustrations and disappointments of August bubbled to the surface. The Twins sent 10 to the dish surging to a 6-1 lead. Then sent 9 more the following inning . When the dust settled, the Minnesota team cruised to a 15-3 win.

The skies on the south Bronx exploded with fireworks as the lumberyard was open! Top 1, Hank Allen, older brother of Phillies Richie Allen, send one into the monuments, legging out a triple chasing a pair home. The Bombers lived up to their title on this evening, as Bill Robinson and Tommy Tresh found the left field bleachers leading off the bottom if the 1st to square the game. When the inning ended, the Yanks held a two run lead. The Senators squared the game in the 5th sending the contest into overtime. The teams traded a pair of runs in the 10th and it ended the next inning when the Yanks capitalized in an error to snag the win.

It’s the Brawl for it All in The Hub as the two teams tied atop of the league kick off a 4 game set. The Pale Hose came out hot as the first three batters singled and when the inning ended, the Southsiders were up 2-0. The Bosox kept pecking away notching single runs in the 4th, 5th and 7th raking the lead. Gary Bell recovered nicely, retiring 18 in a row before being lifted for a pinch hitter. The Beantowners added on three insurance runs curtesy of recent,y acquired Hawk Harrelson firing the first salvo of the weekend while jumping into 1st place

The getaway game at the BIG A featured the quintessential pitchers duel with both pitchers still throwing darts well into extra innings. Manager Bill Rigney blinked first, pinch hitting for Jim McGlothlin in the bottom of the 11th. With a worn out bullpen, Jack Hamilton came on and the Bengals jumped all over him for a pair of runs and Earl Wilson completed his shutout.
