Yaz Homer in the 4th halved the lead bit the A’s got it back in the 6th, Campaneris driving in the run. Top 8, Dobson tired and after a si game and a walk, Al Dark summoned Jack Aker to preserve the lead. Well singles by Scott and Conigliaro tied the game. Bottom 8, Gosger reached McMahon for a single then Phil Roof teed off on McMahon sending one into the pasture giving KC the lead again, Tony Pierce navafated around a leadoff single giving the game to the home club.

Boston heads south as thru continue their Midwest tour stopping in Kansas City for some Arthur’s Bryant BBQ and, on yea, baseball.

After the Sox went in order in their part of the 1st, Campaneris lead off with a single and Rick Monday simply crushed a Lonborg offering for a quick 2-0 lead. Boston answered right back, Scott doubled and scored standing up on a Tony C single. Conigliaro then raced hone on a Dalton Jones two bagger to tie the game. One out later Bob Tillman gave the Sawx the lead with an RBI knock. The Beantowners added a couple, more in the 3rd off Krausse as Yaz went yard. George Scott then legged out a triple and trotted hone on Tony C. second RBI single. Boston would waste doubles in the 4th and 5th, finally racking on another insurance run on the 7th when a single and two walks loaded the bases. Jones hit one to Cater at 3rd who double clutched and lost a play at the plate, settling for a force at 3rd. Lonborg, meanwhile, settled in nicely, getting 21 in a row after Monday’s blast. He had to work out of trouble in the 8th so when he allowed a single and a walk to start the 9th, Dick Williams brought in former A’s closer Johnny Wyatt to slam the door shut.

The back end of a quick two game set, the DC bits looking for the sweep. Former ace Mudcat Grant toes the rubber for Sam Me,e’s squad while neophyte Joe Coleman goes for Gil Hodges.

Senators keep the momentum going as Saverine and Hank Allen single to open the game. One out later, Frank Howard did what he does best making it 3-0 Nats. Not to be upstaged, Ticar and Carew singled to start the bottom of the guest. Versalles chased them home with a two bagger and two batters later scooted home on Ron Clark’s RBI single. Washington took the lead back in the second when Brinkman walked and was bunted to second. Hank Allen doubled in the run. The lead lasted to the bottom of the third, erased by a two run shot by Killebrew. The Twins put it to bed in the 6th off Bob Humphreys, highlighted by a rbi single by Carew and a three run homer by Zolio Versalles. The Windy City Boys ride into Charm City looking to announce their presence with authority. The Orioles seem poised for the challenge after their recent stretch of excellent baseball. We have a marquee matchup featuring to unbeaten hurlers.

Game began as a pitchers duel, neither side doing much early on. Top 3, Hansen singled and moved up on a wild pitch. Don Buford rattled one around the corner in right to an RBI, ending up himself on third with a three bagger. Wayne Causey lifted a fly to deepest right for the second run as the Pale Hose draw first blood. Bottom 4. Blefary coaxed a walk and Aparicio singled for the Birds first hit. With runners on the corners, Aparicio broke for second stealing the base as Blefary stayed put. One out later, Peters gave Brooks a free pass setting up the double play. Gary got Powell to ground out but somehow beat the relay cutting the lead in half. Sox put on their hitting shoes in the 5th. Buford singled and stole second. Two outs later. Pete Ward drove him home making it 3-1. Two walks loaded the bases for JC Martin who delivered two with a single to center. Hansen put the cherry on top with another knock pushing the lead to 6-1. A single by zhrld and a double by Blefary got one back. But that would be as close as they would get. McCraw singled for a run in the 6th and Buford tripled again for 2 more on the 7th. Two more in the 8th got them one shy of a dozen putting this one in the win column of the visitors, making it 5 victories n a row.

Washington cruises into the land of 1000 lakes feeling a lot better of themselves after winning 2 of 3 in SoCal. The Twins have hit a bad patch and look to rookie Jim Ollom to help. Nats counter with former Dodger Phil Ortega.

The Sens break from the game fast as three of the first four batters single producing the first run. Peterson made it 2-0 and Harrelson bumped it to 3 zip. Bottom W, Tovar lead off with a single and trotted home on a Rod Carew sky rocket. Loom settled down and had a clean second and third. In the 4th, an error by Clark opened the door but the Sens were kept off the board when Tovar nailed The Hawk at the plate on a short fly to right. Top 5 Ollom’s luck ran out as the first three batters singled to load the bases prompting Sam Mele to make a pitching change. Jim Perry faired no better, permitting two inherited runners to score on Ollom’s docket. Phil Ortega cruised into the 9th, when a walk and single put 2 on. Gil Hodges not wanting to snatch defeat from the clutches of victory brought in Darrell Knowles who got the last two outs to make it 3 out of 4 for the Senators.
