Yanks pecked away at The Sox registering single runs in three innings and Al Downing kept the Sox scoreless until he turned an ankle trying to break up a double play. From there the Pinstripe short relievers imploded as Joe Foy homered off Thad Tillitson and the man of the year Carl Yastrzemski put the Beantowners ahead coming off the bench to take Dooley Womack deep pulling Boston within a 1/2 game of the league lead.
