The tail end of this double dip offers no relief for the team from the Nations Capital who now have to face all-star lefty Gary Peters as they try not to get swept. Jim Hannan comes out of the pen to make the spot start. Both side went in order in the 1st. Bottom 2, Pete Ward muscled one out to give the home club the lead. Jerry Adair singled and Ron Hansen drove him home with double. Gary Peters helped his cause singling Hansen in for the 3rd run of the inning. Top 3, Peters served up a long fly to a Kenny McMullen to trim the lead. Bottom 4, the Pale Hose opened the frame with four consecutive singles, Hansen and Peters once again collecting RBIs. That was all for Hannan. Bob Priddy came on and allowed two more to score on a single by Tommy McCraw. Ken Harrelson poled a solo shot to get the visitors one run closer. Peters put in a workmanlike effort, altho the Nats had their chances, having runners in scoring position in each of the last four innings. But he survived, going the distance in his first start of the new campaign giving the home team a three game sweep.
