The Red Sox grabbed an early 2-0 lead only to see it erased by a three run blast by Ron Hansen. Tne Beantowners tied it up when Scott drive in Yaz the grabbed the lead again. But, once again Hansen put the Windy City boys ahead with his third homer on the day. Top 9 Bob Locker tried to nail down the win but Mike Andrews went deep to send this one into overtime. Both teams had their chances in every extra inning only to fail. Until the top of the 18th and go figure, of all things, the eventual winning run scored when Don McMahon uncorked a wild pitch sending Rico Petrocelli scampering across the plate.
