CALIFORNIA (63-79) @ NEW YORK (59-85) game 2

STARTING PITCHERS

9 (8-2 3.03) 8YZ (12-7 2.58)

Jay Johnstone was the center of this win, unfortunately, it was to the benefit of the New York Yankees. Bottom 1, with two on, Steve Whitaker sent a knuckling line drive to center that Johnstone simply muffed and that was the only tally of the game. Luckily, that’s all Fritz Peterson would need as he spun a neat five hitter, going the distance to warn a split of the twin bill.
