An old fashioned pitching duel erupted on the south side as George Brunet battled Joe Horlen who was gunning for his 20th win. The Sox broke thru first as Pete Ward scored on a JC Martin but Roger Repoz evened the contest by going deep. In the end, Minnie Rojas faced only two batters before walking off the mound as the losing pitcher.

NOTES: The speedy Don Buford is second in the AL in stolen bases, just trailing Kaycee’s Bert Campaneris. Joe Horlen with his outstanding outing reduced his ERA TO 1.92, good for 4th in the league. He, however, failed once again to reach the twenty victory club, thus his third attempt. Ron Hansen is second on the team in RBIs. Ken Boyer saw his hitting streak end at 8 games. Roger Repoz has homered in back to back games. Aurilio Rodriguez gas hit in 7 of 8 games since his recall, the 19 year old hitting a healthy .272
