This game was essentially over in the bottom of the second when Dick McAuliffe touched home plate after crushing a grand slam off Ricardo Rodriguez. The Athletics got within 3 but the Bengals then put up their second 5 run inning of the game off Jack Aker, giving the nightcap to the home club.
