Still smarting from a narrow loss in game one, the Twins struck fit three in the third off Sonny Siebert, the big blow was a long fly by the Killer, Harmon Killebrew. They tacked on another the next inning taking a commanding lead into the 8th. Jim Perry got the first out but three straight hits netted a pair bringing on Al Worthington in relief. Al could not hold the advantage as the Tribe tied it up. Only fate was on the hone club’s side as Bob Allen dud his Rickey Vaughan impression going Wild Thing by walking all three he faced with the winning run scoring on a sac fly off Orlando Pena giving the Twins a split on the day night.
