A Donnybrook broke out in the Bronx as the oldest rivalry in the Junior Circuit resumed there pier six brawls. Tied at 2 after the 3rd, the Bronx Bombers chased Morehead in the 4th by plating three runs. The lead lasted only until the next half inning curtesy of a grand slam by Reggie Smith. Yanks regained the lead as 6 consecutive batters reached against Jose’ Santiago taking a 8-6 lead that again lasted just to the next Boston at bat when usually surehanded Ruben Amaro booted a grounder allowing the tying run to score. But the brouhaha took its last turn when after guilty Amaro doubled, Johnny Wyatt uncorked not one, but two wild pitches to give the Pinstripers the win.

NOTES: Big game for two stalwart Yankees, Mantle and Tresh. In fact, every Yank hit safely, except Jake Gibbs. Dooley Womack could not hold in and save the victory, but did collect the win. The Mick regained the team lead in RBIs. Carl Yastrzemski crushed his league leading 50th circuit blast.
