Frank Robinson broke a 2-2 tie with a two run shot into the left field bleachers in the bottom of the 5th. But the Athletics stormed back loading the bases. Eddie Watt came on to face pinch hitter Rick Monday. The result was a grand slam and a Kaycee lead that 4 relievers managed to hold into, snagging me game so far in this series.

NOTES: After mounting their big comeback, Bill Stafford did his best to give back the lead. A single and two walks loaded the bases and Tony Pierce relieved to face Boog Powell. One pitch and powell sharply lined into a triple play! Mike Hershberger had a great series, going 7-11 with three two-baggers and 4 RBIs. Bert Campaneris stole 4 bags in the series boosting his league leading number to 3’. Phil Roof could only hit air in this one, wearing the golden sombrero and whiffing four times. It’s either feast or famine as Kansas City has a pair with 10+ wins and four with 10+ losses.
STAR OF THE GAME: GRAND SLAM!
