The Athletics jumped out in front on a Phil Roof homer but the Senators took back the lead in the 8th as a Campaneris error opened the flood gates which Jack Aker could not close. Leading 6-3 going into the bottom of the 9th when Phil Roof did it again, his hinder driving the game into extra innings. The visitors cracked through in the 14th to finally win this one.

NOTES: Huge game for Phil Roof clubbing 2 homers and driving in 5 of the 6 KC runs. Kaycee had a golden opportunity in the 11 off Bob Priddy when Gosger lead off with a triple. Mgr Gil Hodges intentionally walked the next two. It worked this time as Bert Campaneris topped into a 2-2-3 DO and Donaldson grounded out.
