In the nightcap, once again the A’s jumped all over the Beantown starter registering four runs in the first two frames. But Johnny ‘Blue Moon’ Odom could not stand posterity, surrendering a lead changing three run blast to Tony Conigliaro. The home club clawed to within two but Yaz again flexed his muscle to give the Red Sox a comfortable lead tested by the erratic relief job by Johnny Wyatt who barely held on to close it out.
