The Orioles gained a split in the double dip as Marcellino Lopez, just recalled from Rochester of the International League, went six strong innings appreciating the lumber support of Larry Haney and Paul Blair. Veteran Stan Williams also pitched well in his reprieve from the bush leagues but came out on the shirt end.

NOTES: With his three bagger in the 7th, Paul Blair retook the league lead with 9. Mark Belanger filled in at both keystone positions in all four games, rewarding Hank Bauer with a hit in each contest. Moe Drabowsky did not allow a run in July covering a dozen appearances. Marcy Lopez, who came over at the trade deadline for Woody Held, made his first big league appearance since April 23rd. Max Alvis hit three bombs in the four game set.
