Yanks took an early three run lead on a Pepitone homer but that was short-lived as Detroit countered with 4 in the fifth, batting around to plate 4. Hoss Clarke put the Bombers back on top only to see the Bengals respond with a pair of two run innings to seal the win. Jerry Lumpe pinch hit a homer and five doubled overcame a bad start by Earl Wilson.
