Detroit jumped out to a 3-0 then 5-2 lead but the Yankees still has some fight in them and rallied to tie in the 8th when Steve Whitaker smacked a three run homer off Pat Dobson. Yanks then struck for three more in the 9th, the catalyst bring Whitaker again. The Bengals did not go quietly as Bill Freehan cracked a homer yuk get them within one but alas it was not to be.
