Boston heads south as thru continue their Midwest tour stopping in Kansas City for some Arthur’s Bryant BBQ and, on yea, baseball.

After the Sox went in order in their part of the 1st, Campaneris lead off with a single and Rick Monday simply crushed a Lonborg offering for a quick 2-0 lead. Boston answered right back, Scott doubled and scored standing up on a Tony C single. Conigliaro then raced hone on a Dalton Jones two bagger to tie the game. One out later Bob Tillman gave the Sawx the lead with an RBI knock. The Beantowners added a couple, more in the 3rd off Krausse as Yaz went yard. George Scott then legged out a triple and trotted hone on Tony C. second RBI single. Boston would waste doubles in the 4th and 5th, finally racking on another insurance run on the 7th when a single and two walks loaded the bases. Jones hit one to Cater at 3rd who double clutched and lost a play at the plate, settling for a force at 3rd. Lonborg, meanwhile, settled in nicely, getting 21 in a row after Monday’s blast. He had to work out of trouble in the 8th so when he allowed a single and a walk to start the 9th, Dick Williams brought in former A’s closer Johnny Wyatt to slam the door shut.

STAR OF THE GAME 4-5 Homer RBI
