The Windy City Boys ride into Charm City looking to announce their presence with authority. The Orioles seem poised for the challenge after their recent stretch of excellent baseball. We have a marquee matchup featuring to unbeaten hurlers.
Game began as a pitchers duel, neither side doing much early on. Top 3, Hansen singled and moved up on a wild pitch. Don Buford rattled one around the corner in right to an RBI, ending up himself on third with a three bagger. Wayne Causey lifted a fly to deepest right for the second run as the Pale Hose draw first blood. Bottom 4. Blefary coaxed a walk and Aparicio singled for the Birds first hit. With runners on the corners, Aparicio broke for second stealing the base as Blefary stayed put. One out later, Peters gave Brooks a free pass setting up the double play. Gary got Powell to ground out but somehow beat the relay cutting the lead in half. Sox put on their hitting shoes in the 5th. Buford singled and stole second. Two outs later. Pete Ward drove him home making it 3-1. Two walks loaded the bases for JC Martin who delivered two with a single to center. Hansen put the cherry on top with another knock pushing the lead to 6-1. A single by zhrld and a double by Blefary got one back. But that would be as close as they would get. McCraw singled for a run in the 6th and Buford tripled again for 2 more on the 7th. Two more in the 8th got them one shy of a dozen putting this one in the win column of the visitors, making it 5 victories n a row.
