The Boston club invade the upper Midwest for a weekend set as both teams chase lead leading Chicago.
Sox go in order in their part of the 1st. Bottom 1 the twins collected three singles but could not produce a tally. Top 2, Scott walked and Tony C reed off on Grant putting the visitors up 2-0. Yaz doubled in the third but got left stranded. Bottom 3, Cesar Tovar snuck one around the foul pole to cut their deficit in half. The Sox tried to get that one back but ultimately wasted a pair of hits. History repeated itself on the 5th on the Sox abandoning a pair of knocks. Bottom 5, Ron Clark muscled up to tie the game at 2. Then two errors and a two out single by Killebrew put the home club ahead. That would be the extent of the scoring as Jim Perry took care of the Sox in relief giving the Twins a much needed win.
