The Twins find themselves settling in on the shores of Lake Erie to a pair of contests against the home town Indians. Both teams are hovering the .500 mark early this season. Former tribesman Mudcat Grant faces his former team who respond back with second year hurler Steve Hargan,

Both teams went in order in the first. Top 2, Killebrew drew a walk and Allison singled putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Versalles whiffed but Rollins ripped one over the head of the center fielder chasing in the baseman. Bottom 3, The home club left a pair of singles on . Top 4, the Twinkies wasted a one out triple by Versalles. Bottom 4, Leon Wagner doubled with one out and one out later, slugging backstop Duke Sims drove one over the chain link fence in right tying the game. Bottom 5, Steve Hargan gave himself the lead blasting a Grant offering over the fence in left. Cleveland seemingly put the game away in the 7th off Jim Merritt who came on for his 1967 debut. Sims walked and moved to 3rd on a Larry Brown double. Hargan whiffed for the second out and Merritt looked like he could escape unscathed. But he left a hanger to Davalillo who made it a souvenir upping the lead to 6-4. Alvis followed with a 2 bagger and rounded 3rd trying to score on a single by Hinton, but a strong peg by Tovar in center cut down the rally. Top 8, the Twins fought back, Bobby Allison taking advantage of the ballpark’s new dimensions cutting the deficit to 2. Sonny Siebert came in to collect the last four outs needed to secure the win for Hargan and the home team. Chuck Hinton extended his hitting streak to 20 games,
