Those of the 9,000 in attendance are settled as the Halos look to square the day and the series before heading to Baltimore. Their task is a tough one, facing Sonny Siebert, the hard luck loser in his first start. Mexican import, Jorge Rubio goes for the west coast team.

Top 1, red hot Jim Fregosi singled and did the next batter, Jay Johnstone. Sonny recovered to whiff the next two. The Indians got runners to 2nd and 3rd in each of the first two innings just to leave them there. Top 4, the Cherubs loaded the bases on a hit, error and a free pass only to see it go down the drain when Knoop fanned. Bottom 5, Siebert reached on an error, Davalillo singled and Alvis walked to load the bases we nobody out. Hinton looked at a third strike bringing up Fred Whitfield. Fred sliced one that Fregosi dove to snag then flip to third to complete the double play. Bottom six the home team would not be denied. Wagner walked, a sims singled and Gus Gil reached when Rubio fumbled his sac bunt attempt. Larry Brown was next but two pitches in, Cal Drummond who was calling balls and strikes, ran him from the game. I doubt Joe Adcock got a good explanation either. Lee Maye came on to resume the at bat and ripped a single to right scoring a pair, pitting Cleveland up 2. Siebert bunted the runners up a base to which Rigney ordered an intentional walk to Davalillo. Pete Cimino came on to try to snuff the rally. Alvis hit into a fielders choice, but Hinton picked up the runners, plating a pair with a single to center. Siebert cruised until the 9th when Don Mincher reached him for his third round tripper. When Siebert walked the next 2,Adcock brought in Bob Allen who settled the matter getting three outs in the air, putting this on the left column for the home team
