The White Sox make their first visit to the Capital where they take on the Senators who hope for better results that the previous weekend. Gary Peters looks to win his second against the Nats while rookie Joe Coleman, fresh off 6+ shutout innings in his first turn.

Joe Coleman came out firing, fanning Don Buford to lead off the game. Ken Berry drew a walk and got on his horse and galloped home on a double up the gap by Tommy McCraw. One out later, Pete Ward found one to his liking, crashing his third into the right field seats making it 3-0. Bottom 1, Peters lost the plate for two batters the then stranded them top 3, either Larry Napp’s strike zone shrunk or Coleman was just wild as he walked the bases full. Jerry Adair ket him off the hook by rolling into a double play. Top 4, a single and walk put two on. Peters then smacked into a DP bit an error by Brinkman kept the inning alive, scoring Josephson from 3. The home club threatened in the 3rd and 4th as first Freddy Valentine then Ken McMullen singled and stole second. Neither rounded the bases. Bottom 5, an error and single put 2 on. This time Peters took issue with Napp’s pitch calling, walking the next 2, forcing in a run. The game then went into cruise control as neither team mounted much of anything. Top 9, the Southsiders combined a walk and single in an attempt to stretch the lead but Agee rolled into a twin killing, snuffing out the rally. Bob Locker who took over for Peters and had an easy 8th. Bottom 9, Hawk Harrelson took Locker deep cutting the deficit to 2. McMullen singled and one out later, Bob Chance pinch hit for the pitcher and found one to his liking tying the game with a two run shot! The Senators brought in their ace reliever Dave Baldwin for the extra frame. Pete Ward drew a full count walk. Two outs latter, now on second base due to a wild pitch. Ron Hansen ripped one down the line in left doubling home the go ahead run. Bottom 10, Old Warhorse Hoyt Wilhelm came on to try to preserve the win. He simply struck out the side, putting another one in the Chicago win column. The Chisox remained undefeated against the Nats. Ken Berry drew 4 walks in the game.
