It’s a reprise of the previous, except 250 miles northeast. The Six took two of three in the Bronx and now they face off in Beantown. Yanks send their ace Mel Stottlemyre to the bump looking for his third win. His opponent, neophyte lefty a Billy Rohr looks fir his first of the season.
Top one, the Mick got robbed of a homer by the green monster, ripping a screaming liner off the impingement barely sliding around the tag. Bottom 1, the hone team went in order buy Tony Conigliaro got enough loft to find the netting upon the left field wall. Tony Horton, subbing for George Scott, found the same spot doubling the lead. Petrocelli worked a walk and one out later, Mike Andrews, making his first start of the season (Reggie Smith moved to center) singled putting 2 on. Billy Rohr tried to bunt them up a base but failed. But the hone club did not let Stottlemyre off the hook as a Reggie Smith and Dalton Jones singled in runs bumping the lead to 4-0. Bottom 3, Petrocelli joined the bomb squad blasting his third to the bullpen in right center, Yanks got a lead off double by Tom Tresh that was wasted as was a one out double by pinch hitter Lu Clinton in the 8th. Billy Rohr got three fly balls to end the contest.
STAR OF THE GAME 2-4 Homer RBI
