In the great northern Midwest for a rematch of the their second matchup that was a pure pitching gem. This time Dean Chance hopes for a better outcome.
Top 1, Chance issued a two out walk to Frank Robby then plucked Brooks Robby, payback perhaps for the homer that served as the on,ya run last time? No harm as a Powell lined to short. Baltimore threatened again in the 4th, a one out free pass and a single got things interesting but a fly out and a whiff ended it. Meanwhile Palmer picked up where he left off, surrendering only a walk in the first 4 innings. Twins finally ruffled Palmer’s feathers in the 5th. Zolio Versalles doubled with one out and with two gone, Ron Carew ripped one up the gap to score him. Bottom 6, the Twins got singles from Cesar Tovar and Tony Oliva putting two on and Harmon Killebrew put one into the odd shaped bleachers making it a 4-0 lead. Twins tacked one on in the 8th as Tony Oliva blasted his 3rd of the year. Chance was very sharp as only Curt Blefary reached him for base hits. Dean gained revenge with a 2 hit 12 strikeout shutout.
