They go at it once again in the Motor City, The Tigers looking to feast once more against the Angels, having won the first three matchups. George Brunet looks to break the skein facing Joe Sparma in his second start of the year.

Both teams go in order in the first. Bottom 2, a one out single and 2 free passes fill the bases. Ray Oyler then rolled one to third , the only okay at first hallowing the first run to score. The Halos tied it up in the 3rd, Tom Satriano singled and scored on a two out single by Jim Fregosi. Things stayed uneventful until the 7th, Don Mincher walked and Jimmie Hall singled. Satriano flied to right, but Third Base Coach Don Hefner held Mincher, not challenging Byrne rifle arm of Al Kaline. Sparma then intentionally walked Bobby Knoop . Mgr Bill Rigney sent lefty swinging Len Gabrielson to pinch hit but he smacked into a inning ending double play. Bottom 8, McAulliffe ripped a triple with 2 outs but Gates Brown popped to short to end it. Top 9 Fred Gladding came on in place of Sparma who went 8 strong innings. Rick Reichardt jumped in the first pitch he saw roping a double over Northrup’s head in center. Mincher whiffed but Jimmie Hall blasted one into the overhang in right fir a 3-1 lead. No sooner did Gladding get a new ball, he needed another as Tom Satriano also went yard. Minnie Rojas closed out his winning three inning stint by fanning the last two he faced.
