Back end of a two game set in Cleveland with Indians really needing a win. 14 game winner Steve Hargan makes his first start of the new year opposed by Lew Krausse who pitched well in a doing effort his last time out.

The A’s wasted a one out double by Mike Hershberger in the 1st and a lead off two bagger by Roger Repoz in the 2nd. The 4th saw the Athletics alternate outs with singles leaving 2 more stranded. Meanwhile Krausse kept the home team hitless through 4. Bottom 5, Duke Sims took one off the thigh and light hitting Gus Gil singled. Larry Brown rapped into a twin killing to snuff out that chance. Top 7 in a scoreless duel, A’s stranded Ken Suarez at second , the sixth of the game. Bottom 8, Max Alvis singled with one out. Krausse then made his fatal mistake, grooving one in Chuck Hinton’s wheelhouse, the ball clearing the fence putting the home club up 2-0. Hargan retired the side in the 9th for the company,tee game shutout.
