Yanks take on the other Sox after dropping 2 of 3 the Boston version. White Sox got out of the gate quickly, only Detroit owning a better record. Two sidewinders in this one, future Hall of Farmer Whitey Ford looking to forget his first start where the Red Sox had their way with him. Tommy John looks to capture his second win in this one,

No scoring in the first, top 2 Joe Pepitone jumped on a hanging curveball putting into the seats in right for an early Yankee lead. It did not last long. First batter of the bottom half, Tommy Agee tied the game with his first of the season,. Once again the Yanks jumped ahead, this time curtosy of Bill Robinson who just crushed his third round tripper of the season. Again Ford coughed up the lead. his new nemesis, Agee, singled and stole second. One batter later Jerry Adair singled him home tying the game again. It stayed knotted one batter as leading off the 5th, Tommy Tresh took John downtown putting the Bombers back into the Bronx Bombers. The Sox tried to tie on the 6th as Agee again singles and swiped second and stayed there as Pete Ward grounded out. To seven, Tresh went yard again, this time with a runner on giving Ford and the Yanks some breathing room. Bottom 7, Adair and Josephson singled but Whitey called on the pitchers best friend getting a twin killing to escape. Dooley Womack shut down the Sox in the 9th to save the win and square the Yanks record at 3. The city lived up to its reputation and nickname of The Windy City, as five homers were launched, 4 by the Pinstripers.
