Second game of this two game set, O’s looking to escape with a pair of victories. Kaycee looking to get back to winning ways. Two promising righthanders go in this tilt. Top one, Frank Robinson doubled with 2 outs but Brooks failed to deliver. Bert Campaneris lead off their part of first with a sharp single then successfully tested Andy Etchabarren’s arm. Two outs later, The Glider, Ed Charles stroked a single for the initial run of the game. The second and third were quiet for both teams. Top 4, Paul Blair single leading off. He got on his horse and galloped home on a Frank Robby triple, tying the game. Catfish got Brooks looking and with the infield back, Powell rolled out to second giving the Birds the lead. The advantage did not last long, four consecutive one out singles tied the game, the last being a dribbler down third by Phil Roof. He knows, it still looks like a line drive in the box score. That would be that last of the scoring in regulation by both teams. Hunter was batted for in the 9th which brought in Jack Aker. Blefary fanned but Davey Johnson delivered a go ahead bomb putting Baltimore ahead. A double and two walks filled the sacks as the Birds tried to put the fame away. Alas, Frank Robby got robbed by Campy ending the inning. Bottom 10, the A’s had a chance to tie as Mike Hershberger doubled with one out but Eddie Watt settled down preserving the victory.
