Senators venture into the Windy City to challenge the Southsuders. A pair of portsiders go in this tilt. Tommy John breezed thru the first three, only blemish being a single by Frank Howard. The home squad drew two walks and with 2 outs, Jerry Adair singled to open the scoring. They nicked Richert for another tally on the second, Don Buford with a rbi single. The 3rd was truly unkind to Richert, hitting lefty hitting Pete Ward who moved to 3rd on an Adair 2-bagger. Duane Josephson lifted one deep enough to left to get Ward in, but now matter, Ron Hansen cleared the bases with his first jack of the season putting the deficit at 5. Washington cut the lead to three, on Cap Peterson’s two run homer. No matter, the Six poured it on in the 4th. Berry singled and Buford walked, both streaking hind on an Agee double. That ended Richert’s evening, bringing in Jim Hannan. Pete Ward greeted him with an RBI single. Adair’s double put runners on second and third. Josephson got one in on a sac fly. McCraw capped the scoring with a double putting the score at 10-2. The visitors picked up three in the 9th, two walks and a single loaded the bags giving Brinkman the dance the chase them home with a double. Richert gad his second straight sub-par outing while John tossed 7 strong innings.
