Game 2 in the Bronx between these two heated rivals. Yanks new ace looking for his second duke of the year. The Sox pestered Stottlemyre in the first 4 innings, leaving six stranded. Yanks broke thru early, Horace Clarke singled to open the NY half of the 1st and one out later Tommy Tresh ripped one over the head of Tartabull in center, racing all the way to third scoring the games first run. Bottom 3, red hot Bill Robinson found the seats in left to double the lead. Boston finally broke through on Mel in the 5th, Tartabull and Joe Foy singled and scored in a Tax double to the gap tying the game at 2. The lead did not last as the Bombers got back to back knocks from Clarke and Robinson. Bennett seemed to settle down getting the next two on short fly balls but Ellie Howard singled for the lead. Yanks had a chance to add to the lead in the 7th when Hoss singled and swiped second and never moved further. Bottom 8, Charley Smith picked up his first homer of the season doubling the lead. Stottlemyre finished the game retiring the last 15 he faced for a complete game.
