Beautiful day in Southern California fir game 2 of this series. A pair of portsiders dueling in this one. Once again, the Tigers broke out early, Wert drew a one out walk and Gates Brown singled, Kaline lined to third but Northrup picked him up with a single thru the box. The Angels put 2 on in the 2nd via singles but were stranded. Top 4, things unraveled on Lopez. Freeman walked and one out later, Lolich worked a free pass. Jake Wood gratefully accepted the third free pass of the inning. Don Wert drove in a couple with a base knock. Brown then walked followed by Lopez walking to the dugout. Lee Burnett’s came on and didn’t find the plate either, forcing on the third run of the inning. Northrup got under one but deep enough for another run and Norm Cash cleaned up with a three run shot, his first of the young season. Top 6, Brown singled, coming home on a two bagger by Kaline who jogged home on a knock by Northrup. Lolich gave the Angels one last sniff in the last of the 6th but Mincher rapped into DP ending the threat.
