Game 2 here in the Nation’s Capital with quite a few less in attendance from opening day. No scoring thru the first four innings altho the Nats threatened in each frame only to be rebuked. Peterson couldn’t hold back the dams in the 5th. Bernie Allen flies to deep right leading off but the next three batters singled to load the bases bringing up The Hawk who shot the gap driving in a pair, putting runners on second and third. Fritz caught McMullen looking for the second out but could not vanquish Doug Camilli who chased the runners home on a single to center. The home team added a run in the seventh as Frank Howard took Thad Tillotson deep. Darrell Knowles extinguished the Yanks rally in the 7th, but ran into trouble walking Pepitone and surrendering a two run shot to Steve Whitaker. A walk and an error ended Knowles afternoon bringing on Dave Baldwin who nailed down the victory
