The Twins welcomed in the new season visiting Charm City. A lefty duel on tap for this one. Twinkies broke out on top thanks to a solo shot by the bespectacled third baseman Rich Rollins. Minnesota tacked in another in the 5th, Tovar singled and swiped second and Rollins drove him Home with a single. An Oliva double and a free pass to Killebrew loaded the bases and ended McNally’s afternoon. Eddie Fisher doused the flames whiffing the next 2, ending the rally with a groundout. Meanwhile Kaat was cruising with a one hitter thru 5. Top 6, Frank Bertania came on and could get nobody out. Six runs crossed the plate when all said and done, the crushing blow a two run triple by Bob Allison off of Moe Drabowsky. the O’s ruined Kaat,’s shutout bid in the last of the 8th, Etchabarren driving home Blair who previously tripled. Kitty settled for a complete game 4 hitter to snag his first win of the new campaign.
STAR OF THE GAME: RICH ROLLINS 3-5 homer 3 RBI’s
